Working around electricity is safe when workers identify and control the risks,<\/strong> however, inadequate training, lack of experience and lack of hazard recognition can lead to serious harm<\/strong> to workers such as electric shock.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, we must also highlight the importance of electrical safety equipment, specialised personal protective equipment<\/strong> designed to protect workers from general and specific electrical hazards. The most commonly used safety equipment are insulated tools and personal protective equipment<\/strong> such as insulating gloves, mats and ladders.<\/p>\n

As we have seen, electrical safety is essential, as mishandling can cause serious injury. In this regard, it is necessary for workers to be familiar with the following key electrical safety tips:<\/p>\n

  1. Exercise caution<\/strong> whenever working with electrical equipment.<\/li>\n
  2. Check for electrical current<\/strong> before touching a wire or metal surface.<\/li>\n
  3. Tape any wires<\/strong> in the workplace to the floor or wall.<\/li>\n
  4. Know which materials are conductive<\/strong> and which are not to be used near high-voltage equipment.<\/li>\n
  5. Regularly inspect cables and connections<\/strong> such as plugs and sockets.<\/li>\n
  6. Use personal protective equipment<\/strong> (PPE<\/a>) such as safety goggles, insulating gloves and hard hats.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
