Consolidating sustainability, sufficiency and energy security

Last week, the Univergy Colombia team participated in the 6th LATAM renewables meeting and fair, which took place on 25, 26 and 27 April at the Centro de Eventos del Caribe, Puerta de Oro, in Barranquilla.

The inauguration was presided over by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, and the closing ceremony was attended by the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro Urrego. This event, the only one of its kind in the country and in the Latam region, brought together the issues, trends and future of the renewable energy market in a comprehensive manner.

The objective was to promote the development of renewable energies and distributed energy resources as a fundamental commitment to sustainability, sufficiency and energy security, as well as to encourage connection platforms between authorities, the production chain, customers and academia.

María Alejandra Pérez, Country Manager of Univergy Colombia, together with José Ángel García Rojo, Univergy Director for LATAM, were present at the event, also holding meetings with different actors of the Colombian renewable energy market.

La Orquídea, one of the projects that Univergy Colombia is currently developing and which will generate 200 MWn of clean energy, was one of the sponsors of the event through CENTRANS.

During the event, the more than 58 participating companies had the opportunity to showcase technological advances, make investments and develop projects that will contribute to the energy transformation.

In Colombia, renewable energies are expected to continue to advance, reaching an installed capacity of approximately 40,000 MW by 2028.
